Why is it that whenever I think of saying or writing ‘I’m back’ I can’t bring myself to do it because I automatically want to say or write ‘I’m back, I’m on my rags and ovulating’? C/o Eminem lyrics. Thanks man (I know Eden would understand)!
Anyway… Hi! How was your long weekend? Does anyone else find Good Friday the most boring day of the year? I mean that in the most respectful way possible. Seriously, when you’re unorganised and realise that you have no butter for your naughty hot cross bun purchase, you can’t duck up to the shops to buy some!! Trust me, unbuttered hot cross buns just don’t cut it.
But in case you’re wondering… BBQ pork hot cross buns DO cut it.
Needless to say I felt like shit for the rest of the day as yeast and wheat filled buns are not generally my staple.
Our weekend was great though! A little bit of everything. Alone time. Me time. Family time. Renovating. Cleaning. Organising. Adventures. Good food. Good company. Fun. Insights. Growth. And the rest.
Friday we got the bottom story of our house fully enclosed! That doesn’t mean much to most of you… But we are renovating and the part of our house that we live on actually sits in top of 3 garages. So we have been working to turn that into liveable space. Floorboards and plumbing were done – our next goal was removing the roller doors and making it all lockable. TICK!
Saturday we put a new fish tank in at the practice. Well when I say ‘we’… I went shopping at Cheap As Chips (spending the big bucks!) and looked after the baby and then our newly lockable house.
Followed by a cuppa with Miss Psychette and her little psychettes. All important jobs. I have only just realised though that we never actually had a cuppa but instead decorated boiled eggs and played with train sets. Life with kids. I love it!
Sunday was ‘family lunch AND dinner and exhausted kids’ day. The upside being that both girls had a day sleep together in our bed for 2 hours – the most beautiful sight in the world.
Also… Get this! I went to the cinema on Sunday night all on my own. Patrick, Gracie and Evie all stood on the balcony in their dressing gowns and waved me off. It was a strange moment. But I was going to enjoy that movie dammit! I rocked up when the lights were still on and felt all the non-alone people watch me go and sit on my own. The movie was entertaining enough but the best part was going home to see everyone happily asleep!
And finally, on monday we had our own family day – a visit to the art gallery and museum (both at Gracie’s request) before catching a tram to Chinatown for lunch, then a bus back to the car to go home for all 4 of us to nap.
Upon waking Patrick took the girls downstairs to play in our newly lockable room and I had the house to myself for a couple of hours… To do 3 loads of dishes, hang out the washing, bring in the other washing, tidy up, make the bed and cook dinner. Then we had our last dinner with Gracie before she starts school!! I don’t know why that’s important but it just seems to be.
So how was your weekend?

(Sonia at Love, Life and Hiccups does this every week! You can pop over read about the intricate details of other peoples weekends too… Just in case you are nosy like me!)
